The Deconstructed Canvas
We took everything you know about wall art and unraveled it. POST-PASTAR isn’t painted, printed, or projected—it’s cultured. Each piece begins as a bio-laboratory experiment where pigmented mycelium networks grow into intricate, living patterns across architectural surfaces.
The process starts with a nutrient-infused gel matrix applied directly to your wall. Over 21 days, our engineered fungal strains consume this medium, branching into delicate filigree formations that permanently stain the substrate. What emerges isn’t merely hung art—it’s a fossilized moment of controlled biological expression.
Key Characteristics:
Self-framing: The organism’s growth pattern naturally creates its own irregular border
Structural integration: Becomes part of your wall rather than hanging on it
Climate memory: Growth variations record humidity/temperature fluctuations during cultivation
Zero waste: All materials are fully consumed in the process
Collection Themes:
Symbiosis Series (two-strain competitions creating territorial borders)
Monoculture Blooms (precise single-organism mandalas)
Stochastic Fields (chaotic multi-strain interactions)
The installation requires our technicians to prepare your space as a temporary laboratory. Walls must maintain 85% humidity and 24°C for the growth period, during which you’ll witness daily transformations. Once matured, we permanently fix and seal the result with a crystal-clear mineral coating.
Unlike traditional art mediums, POST-PASTAR carries literal traces of its creation environment. A piece cultivated during rainy season will show denser, water-seeking tendrils compared to its winter-grown counterpart. The final work becomes both artwork and environmental document.
Commercial applications are particularly compelling for biotechnology firms, progressive galleries, and architects seeking truly unique interior treatments. Residential commissions require signed acknowledgment of the biological process—some clients choose to document the growth phase as part of their home’s story.
Maintenance involves only occasional dusting—the sealed surface is as durable as ceramic tile. The pigmentation is UV-stable for decades, though many collectors appreciate how the pieces develop subtle mineral patinas over time.
This isn’t art you acquire. It’s art you host.
Your walls were never meant to be sterile.
